Conservation status: Not threatened or endangered.

These intelligent large white birds are found in woody habitats throughout Australia, usually avoiding arid inland areas with few trees. Their distinctive calls can be very loud - which is useful for them living amongst the noisy forest environments they love. These birds can live for over 70 years whilst in captivity but when living in the wild their life span ranges between 20 and 40 years. These birds have a fairly large population and are not currently subject to any high threat levels.
